What the science says
Aloe vera — In controlled research on topical formulations, aloe vera extract helped increase the water content of the outermost skin layer compared with a vehicle cream. [1]
Glycerin — A well-studied humectant that improves the hydration of the outermost skin layer and helps keep skin soft and supple. [2]
Jojoba — A liquid wax made of long-chain esters, widely used in skin care for skin feel and softness. [3]
The cited studies looked at aloe, glycerin and jojoba in general, not at this eye cream. Here, aloe leaf juice, jojoba seed oil and glycerin sit in the top three positions, and dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline is at position 8. Glycosphingolipids and glycolipids (the ceramide fraction), horse chestnut extract, escin and the hyaluronic acids sit after the fragrance, in small amounts; we quote no studies for them. Lightly scented with natural essential oils.
