What the science says
Sodium PCA — A key component of the skin's natural moisturising factor (NMF), which helps the surface layers bind and retain water. [1]
Glycerin — A humectant that draws water into the outermost skin layer and helps maintain softness, suppleness and the skin's moisture barrier. [2]
The cited research looked at sodium PCA (as part of the skin's natural moisturising factor) and glycerin in general, not at our mist. In our formula water is first and alcohol second (position 2), which gives the quick-drying, weightless feel. Fragrance is third, so everything after it (betaine, lactobacillus ferment lysate, sodium PCA, glycerin, hyaluronic acids) is present in small amounts and we do not credit any of them with a visible effect. We quote no study for lactobacillus ferment lysate and make no claim about the skin microbiome.

How should I use this essence mist?
Shake lightly and hold 20–30 cm from the face. Close your eyes and mist evenly. Let it settle, or press in gently with clean fingertips. Use over bare skin before serum, over makeup to set, or any time skin needs a refresh.
Will it disturb makeup?
The spray is fine enough to settle evenly rather than land in droplets, so it will not disturb makeup when misted over the face.
