What the science says
Lactic acid — Hydroxy acids loosen the bonds between dead flakes on the skin's surface so they shed more evenly, revealing a smoother look. Research emphasizes using daily sunscreen alongside hydroxy acids. [1]
Lactic acid — In a study on human volunteers, 5% and 12% lactic acid applied over three months improved skin smoothness and the appearance of surface lines. [2]
The cited study tested 5% and 12% lactic acid applied twice daily; our overnight leave-on fluid has lactic acid as its second ingredient, at the 10% printed on the pack. Results from a study cannot be transferred directly to our formula. As with all hydroxy acids, lactic acid can increase sun sensitivity, so daily sunscreen is essential.
