What the science says
Emollients and humectants — Research on moisturisers found that emollients keep the skin smooth and break the dry-skin cycle, while humectants hydrate the outermost skin layer. [1]
Glycerin — A humectant that draws water into the outermost skin layer and helps maintain softness and suppleness. [2]
The cited research looked at emollients and glycerin in general moisturisers, not this cleanser. Glycerin is second and sunflower seed oil third in the list, working with the sucrose esters to lift make-up and rinse clean. Tocopherol (vitamin E) at position 8 protects the formula's oils; we claim no vitamin effect on skin. Camomile, sea buckthorn and cloudberry extracts come after the fragrance, in small amounts, and we claim no visible effect from them.
