What the science says
Aloe vera — In controlled research on topical creams, aloe vera extract increased the water content of the outermost skin layer compared with an unsupplemented base. [1]
Glycerin — A humectant that draws water into the outermost skin layer and helps maintain moisture barrier properties, softness and suppleness. [2]
Jojoba — A liquid wax made of long-chain esters, widely used in moisturisers and sunscreens for skin feel and softness. [3]
The cited studies looked at aloe, glycerin and jojoba in general, not at this cream. Here, aloe leaf juice, jojoba seed oil and glycerin sit in the top three positions. Mango seed butter is at position 12 for cushioning. Hyaluronic acid forms are near the end of the list (positions 18 and 24 of 24) in small amounts; we make no anti-wrinkle claims for them.
