What the science says

Aloe vera leaf juice — In research on creams containing aloe, the water content of the outermost skin layer rose after 2 weeks compared with the same cream without aloe. [1]

Glycerin — Research on glycerin found it improves hydration of the outermost skin layer, the skin's moisture barrier and its softness and suppleness, and that it is especially helpful in dry, cold conditions. [2]

The cited aloe research used leave-on creams, not a rinse-off wash; in a cleanser the aloe stays on the skin only briefly. Organic aloe leaf juice is first on our list, ahead of water. We quote no study for the blackberry, sage or burdock root extracts, and make no claim for them. Lactic acid at position 11 is a mild pH regulator. The pack's words about brightening are not a claim we make.

Slight separation can occur naturally in plant-based formulas — it is not a fault. Simply shake before use.
