What the science says
Aloe vera — In research on creams containing aloe, the water content of the outermost skin layer rose after 2 weeks compared with the same cream without aloe. [1]
Glycerin — Research on glycerin found it improves hydration of the outermost skin layer, the skin's moisture barrier and its softness and suppleness, and that it is especially helpful in dry, cold conditions. [2]
The cited aloe study used creams, not gels, and none of the research tested our formula. Here organic aloe juice is first, followed by glycerin. Zinc PCA is at position 7 and we quote no study for it. Sodium hyaluronate (position 14) and the watercress extract (position 11) come after the fragrance, so they are small amounts. We do not claim that the gel controls oil or shine; it is simply oil-free.
