What the science says
Aloe vera — In studies on topical creams, aloe vera extract helped raise the water content of the outermost skin layer compared with an unsupplemented vehicle. [1]
Glycerin — A humectant that draws water into the outermost skin layer and helps maintain skin softness and its moisture barrier, particularly in dry conditions. [2]
Hyaluronic acid — Research on creams with hyaluronic acid found improved skin hydration and elasticity versus the base cream. [3]
The aloe study used creams with 0.1%, 0.25% or 0.5% freeze-dried aloe extract and the hyaluronic acid study used 0.1% creams; we do not know how our levels compare. Organic aloe juice is the first ingredient and glycerin the fourth, while hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate are ingredients 22 and 23, after the fragrance, in small amounts. Ascorbyl palmitate and tocopherol sit near the end to protect the oils; we do not claim vitamin C or E effects from them.
