What the science says

Kojic acid — Research on kojic acid notes that it slows tyrosinase, the enzyme involved in pigment formation, which is why it is used in skincare for a more even-looking tone. [1]

Glycerin — Research on glycerin found that it improves hydration of the outermost skin layer, the skin's moisture barrier and its softness and suppleness. [2]

Jojoba seed oil — Research describes jojoba as a liquid wax of long-chain esters, widely used in moisturising formulas for skin softness and comfortable feel. [3]

The cited research describes kojic acid, glycerin and jojoba as ingredients; it did not test our cream. Kojic acid is ingredient 12 of 33, ahead of the fragrance, and the carton prints 1% kojic acid. Ascorbyl palmitate, tocopherol and rosemary extract come after the fragrance, in small amounts, and are there to protect the plant oils, not as a source of vitamin C or E effects. Kojic acid can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so use sunscreen daily.
