What the science says
Aloe vera — In research on topical creams, formulations containing aloe vera extract helped raise the water content of the outermost skin layer compared with an unsupplemented base. [1]
Jojoba seed oil — Research on jojoba found that it is in fact a liquid wax made of long-chain esters, widely used in moisturisers for skin feel and softness. [2]
The cited aloe and jojoba research looks at those ingredients on their own, not at our cream. In our formula, organic aloe juice is the first ingredient (#1), followed by cocoa butter (#2), jojoba oil (#3) and sunflower oil (#4). The ceramide fraction (glycosphingolipids and glycolipids) is listed at positions 26 and 27, after the fragrance, so it is present in small amounts. The cream works by supplying rich emollients and humectants to keep dry skin comfortable.
