Bicarbonate taken loose meets stomach acid immediately, which is why it is uncomfortable in the amounts athletes use. The DRcaps shell here is designed to open further down instead. Four capsules make a serving.

• Do not take alongside medication without checking — bicarbonate changes stomach pH and can affect how medicines are absorbed.

Warnings

High sodium content. One serving of four capsules provides 985 mg of sodium — the equivalent of about 2.5 g of salt. Not suitable if you are on a sodium-restricted diet, or if you have high blood pressure, heart failure or a kidney condition. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for children and adolescents.

Food supplement. Not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Keep out of the reach of small children.
