What the research says
A randomised, placebo-controlled crossover study (Rohde et al., 1998) in 8 healthy men gave glutamine at intervals around repeated cycling bouts, over one day with three exercise bouts. The amount of glutamine is not stated in the abstract. Glutamine kept plasma glutamine above pre-exercise levels, but it did not change the exercise-related falls in lymphocyte numbers, proliferative response or killer-cell activity. It is a very small, old study with a null result. This product provides 5,000 mg of L-glutamine once a day.
