What the science says
Cationic conditioning agents — In research on hair cosmetics, conditioning ingredients with a positive charge deposit on the hair surface, smooth the cuticle and reduce friction and static, so hair detangles more easily and reflects more light. [1]
Glycerin — Research on glycerin found it improves hydration of the outermost skin layer and the skin's softness and suppleness. [2]
The cited research evaluated cationic conditioning agents in hair cosmetics and glycerin on skin, not this conditioner. Here, behentrimonium chloride sits third and glycerin fifth, giving surface smoothing and slip. Mica adds a subtle sheen on the surface. Hydrolyzed wheat protein is near the end of the list in a small amount and we make no claim for it.
