What the science says
Cleansing agents (glucosides, coco-sulfate, glutamates) — Research on how shampoos are formulated describes the cleansing agents in a shampoo as lifting oil and dirt from scalp and hair. [1]
Aloe vera — In research on creams containing aloe, the water content of the outermost skin layer rose after 2 weeks compared with the same cream without aloe. This is skin research, not hair research. [2]
The cited research is general (shampoo formulation) or on skin (aloe); neither tested our shampoo. Organic aloe juice is the first ingredient, in place of plain water. The surfactants lauryl glucoside, sodium coco-sulfate and disodium cocoyl glutamate are at positions 2, 3 and 6 and do the cleansing; this shampoo contains a mild coco-sulfate. Sodium PCA is at position 7. Glycerin and the ginkgo, burdock and sea kale extracts come after the fragrance, so they are small amounts and we make no claim for them.
These are published studies on the ingredients, not tests of this product. Study concentrations and formulas differ from ours; individual results vary.
