What the science says
Coconut-derived surfactants — Research on how shampoos are formulated describes the cleansing agents in a shampoo as lifting oil and dirt from scalp and hair. [1]
Glycerin — Research on glycerin found it improves hydration of the outermost skin layer, the skin's moisture barrier and its softness and suppleness, and that it is especially helpful in dry, cold conditions. [2]
The cited research looks at shampoo formulation in general and at glycerin on skin, not at this shampoo. Sodium coco-sulfate, coco-glucoside and cocamidopropyl betaine form the cleansing base at positions 2, 3 and 4; this shampoo contains a mild coco-sulfate. Organic glycerin and plant betaine are fifth and sixth. Hydrolysed wheat protein (10) and brassicyl isoleucinate esylate (11) are conditioning ingredients in modest amounts. The words 'Volume' and 'Volumize' appear in the product name; we make no claim about volume.
