Glycerin — A humectant that draws water into the outermost skin layer and helps maintain suppleness and softness. [1]

Emollients and humectants — In research on skin moisturisation, emollients help keep the surface smooth while humectants hydrate the outermost layer. [2]

The cited research evaluated glycerin and emollients in general skin formulations, not this scrub. Here, kaolin clay and sour cherry stone powder do the mechanical cleansing, and glycerin sits fifth in the formula. Rosemary and peppermint oils come after the fragrance, so they are mainly scent and a cooling feel. Hydrolyzed keratin is near the end of the list in a very small amount and we make no claim for it.
