Why does it contain caffeine?
Because caffeine is naturally present in green tea leaf extract, not added separately. The label prints it as a number: 100 mg per daily dose of two capsules, about what a strong espresso carries.
What do polyphenols, catechins and EGCG mean, and why is there no claim for them?
They are the compounds the green tea extract is standardised for — 500 mg of polyphenols, 300 mg of catechins and 180 mg of EGCG per daily dose, all printed on the label. The EU Register of nutrition and health claims authorises no wording for any of them, so we print the numbers and stop there.
Why are vitamin C and zinc in a green tea capsule?
They are added alongside the extract, at 40 mg and 5 mg per daily dose — both 50% of the reference value, which is where the two authorised claims on this page come from. The green tea extract itself carries none.
Can I take another green tea product the same day?
No. The daily dose already carries 180 mg of EGCG, and EU guidance for green tea extract supplements sets a combined limit of 800 mg of EGCG a day from everything you take. Stacking another green tea supplement risks going past that limit.
Why not on an empty stomach?
That is what the label states; take the two capsules with food or a meal rather than first thing before eating.
Is it vegan?
Yes. The capsule shell is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, and nothing in the ingredient list comes from an animal.
