What does buffered mean here?
It means the vitamin C is supplied as calcium L-ascorbate — the calcium salt of ascorbic acid — instead of the free acid. That is a statement about the ingredient, and it is the first line of the ingredient list on the can.

625 % of the reference value — is that too much?
The reference value for vitamin C is 80 mg, so 500 mg is 625 % of it. Reference values are labelling figures, not limits. Stay at one capsule a day, which is the recommended daily intake printed on the label and must not be exceeded, and ask a doctor or pharmacist if you take other vitamin C products alongside it.
What is actually in a capsule?
Four things: calcium L-ascorbate, coating agent hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, acacia fibre and L-leucine. That is the whole list on the label — no sugar, no colourings, no flavourings.
Is it vegan?
Yes. The capsule shell is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, not gelatine, and nothing in the list comes from an animal. The specification also states no added sugar, non-GMO, and no allergen labelling under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011.
Which analysis do you hold, exactly?
Analysis BOD/07/02/25, issued by PLENUM in Ennepetal on 7 February 2025 for buffered vitamin C capsules, sealed original pack, lot X0102BODC, best before 02/2026 — lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, aerobic mesophilic count, yeasts and moulds, Enterobacteriaceae, salmonella and E. coli, with nothing to object to.
