So what does this iron do?
Iron contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, to normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin, and to the normal function of the immune system. Those are the three authorised claims that apply at this dose — 25 mg of iron, 178% of the reference value, printed per tablet.
Why bisglycinate instead of the cheaper sulphate?
Iron bisglycinate binds the iron to glycine. It is the form usually chosen when a plain sulphate causes stomach upset, though how any individual tolerates it can still vary. The label states the form and the 29.4% content; we do not claim it suits everyone.
Why is the pouch so big — 500 tablets?
Because the tablet is small and the dose is one a day: five hundred tablets last around five hundred days, well over a year, which is why the pack is sized the way it is rather than the smaller pots common at 60–100 tablets.
Is it safe to keep this much iron in the house?
Keep it out of reach of young children regardless of pack size — that is what the label itself states. The recommended daily intake must not be exceeded, and other iron-containing food supplements should not be taken at the same time.
Can I take two tablets if I feel very tired?
