Foundation

One formula, ten shades. The foundation is built on organic aloe leaf juice rather than water, with kaolin and rice starch giving a semi-matte finish that sets on its own — it does not need powdering over. Colour comes from mineral pigments, titanium dioxide and iron oxides, not synthetic dyes.

How the shade numbers work

The number tells you depth and the word tells you undertone. Depth runs 05 (fairest) to 50 (deepest), in steps of five. Undertone is one of three:

• Neutral — skin that is neither obviously pink nor obviously golden. Shades 05, 20, 30, 40.
• Warm — golden, peachy or olive cast. Shades 10, 25, 35, 45.
• Cool — pink or bluish cast. Shades 15, 50.

Finding your undertone

The reliable test is jewellery: if silver flatters you more than gold, you are probably cool; if gold wins, warm; if both look fine, neutral. Failing that, look at the veins on the inside of your wrist in daylight — blue reads cool, green reads warm, and a mix reads neutral.

If you are between two depths, take the lighter one. The formula is buildable, so a second thin layer closes the gap, while a shade that is too deep has nowhere to go.

• Every shade shares the same formula and the same complete INCI list — only the pigment load changes.
• Contains organic beeswax, so the foundation is not vegan. The concealer is.
• The citrus peel oils bring naturally occurring fragrance allergens — limonene, linalool and citral are declared on every shade.
