Comparing the orange booster to typical pre-workouts

Here is how our orange formula compares to typical gym powders on dose transparency and colouring.

This tinA typical pre-workout
Caffeine disclosure This tin190 mg per orange serving, printed directly A typical pre-workoutOften hidden in a proprietary blend without milligrams
Beta-alanine amount This tin1,600 mg declared explicitly on the label A typical pre-workoutOften under 1,000 mg or bundled into a mix
Creatine dose This tin1,500 mg — less than the 3 g needed for the EU claim A typical pre-workoutSome formulas provide 3 g to make an authorised performance claim
Colouring agents This tinContains Ponceau 4R (E124) and Carmoisine (E122) for orange tint A typical pre-workoutFormulas without added colours exist — like our apple option

On the label

What one scoop contains, and what each vitamin does

The label prints ten lines per scoop. Five are active ingredients with no reference value — beta-alanine, creatine monohydrate, L-arginine HCl, L-tyrosine and caffeine, already listed above with their amounts. The other five are vitamins, with their amount, their percentage of the reference value and the effect the EU allows us to state.

  1. Vitamin C

    45.5 mg 57 %

    Form: L-ascorbic acid

Also found in: oranges, peppers, strawberries, kiwi

Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

  2. Vitamin B3 (Niacin)

    1.43 mg 9 %

    Form: nicotinamide

Also found in: chicken, peanuts, mushrooms

Below 15 % of the reference value at this dose, so no effect is claimed for it.

  3. Vitamin B6

    480 µg 34 %

    Form: pyridoxal-5-phosphate

Also found in: bananas, potatoes, chickpeas

Vitamin B6 contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism.

  4. Folic acid (B9)

    80 µg 40 %

    Form: folic acid

Also found in: spinach, broccoli, lentils

Folate contributes to normal blood formation.

  5. Vitamin B12

    2 µg 80 %

    Form: methylcobalamin

Also found in: eggs, milk, fish

Vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.

* NRV = nutrient reference value under Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011. Beta-alanine, creatine monohydrate, L-arginine HCl, L-tyrosine and caffeine carry no reference value and no authorised wording, so they are not in this table; their amounts are printed above. Vitamin B3 is printed at 9 % of the reference value, below the 15 % needed to call it a source, so no effect is claimed for it.

The course

  2. Days 2–40

Days 2–40: Halfway through the tin

A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose — one scoop. Keep out of the reach of young children. Not suitable for children, for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or for anyone with high blood pressure, a kidney or liver condition, who has had a heart attack, or who takes blood pressure medication. Do not take with alcohol or medication. Contains Ponceau 4R (E124) and Carmoisine (E122), which may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.

Questions

The questions people actually ask

Short answers with the numbers in them. If what you need is not here, ask us before you buy rather than after.

Answers refer to the batch named in them. The codes printed on the bottle you receive are the ones that count.

How do you prepare the orange pre-workout serving?

Mix 6.5 g of powder with 200 ml of liquid and take it 30 to 60 minutes before training, equivalent to one level measuring scoop as stated on the label.

How does Orange differ from Tutti Frutti, Raspberry and Apple?

Orange, Tutti Frutti and Raspberry share the same active doses but use different flavourings; all three use Ponceau 4R (E124) and Carmoisine (E122) for colour. Orange also lists riboflavin (vitamin B2). Apple has no added colourings.

Why does the orange powder contain E124 and E122?

The orange hue comes partly from Ponceau 4R (E124) and Carmoisine (E122), alongside riboflavin. EU rules require a notice that these colours may affect activity and attention in children. If you prefer a pre-workout without added colours, choose our Apple variant.

What flavouring and colourings are listed on the orange label?

The label lists flavouring, riboflavin (vitamin B2), and the colours Ponceau 4R (E124) and Carmoisine (E122), with sucralose and acesulfame K as sweeteners.

Why is there no performance claim for the creatine?

Because the EU wording for creatine — that it increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high-intensity exercise — only applies at 3 g of creatine a day. This scoop carries 1,500 mg, less than half of that, so we do not use the wording.

The 1,500 mg is still printed as a number on the label; we simply do not attach a claim to it.

What does the vitamin C in this tin actually do?

Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and one scoop carries 45.5 mg of it, 57 % of the reference value. That is the authorised wording from the EU Register, at the dose printed on the label — nothing more.

Who should not take this?

The label lists children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, anyone with high blood pressure, a kidney or liver condition, anyone who has had a heart attack, and anyone taking blood pressure medication. Do not combine it with alcohol or other medication. If you are unsure, ask a doctor or pharmacist before starting it.

How much caffeine is 190 mg?

Roughly two strong espressos, taken in one scoop rather than two cups. It is one serving a day, and the label says not to exceed it.

Can I add another caffeine drink on top of this?

That is between you and how you feel — the label sets the dose for this product at one scoop, and does not account for caffeine from coffee, tea or anything else you drink alongside it.
