What the science says
Ascorbyl glucoside (vitamin C) — Healthy skin naturally contains high levels of vitamin C, which takes part in its antioxidant defence. How well vitamin C applied to the skin works depends strongly on its form and the formula; the authors note that the evidence for topical use is still limited. [1]
Glycerin — A well-studied humectant that draws water into the outermost skin layer, supporting suppleness and the skin's moisture barrier. [2]
Jojoba seed oil — A liquid wax made of long-chain esters, widely used in moisturisers and sunscreens for skin feel and softness. [3]
The cited research looked at vitamin C and other ingredients in general, not at this serum. The pack states 2% vitamin C, as ascorbyl glucoside (7th in the list). Ferulic acid is 12th and tocopherol 14th; hyaluronic acids and several oils sit after the fragrance, in small amounts. Daily sunscreen is essential in any brightening routine.
