What the science says

Kojic acid — Research on kojic acid notes that it slows tyrosinase, the enzyme that drives melanin (pigment) formation, which is why it is used in creams for a more even-looking tone. [1]

Kojic acid and other ingredients — A review of ingredients used in cosmetics for the look of dark spots lists kojic acid among them and notes that their effect is moderate. [2]

Glycerin — A humectant that improves hydration of the outermost skin layer and helps maintain softness and suppleness. [3]

The cited research looked at kojic acid and glycerin in general, not at these products. The concentration of kojic acid in our formulas is not disclosed (position 11 in the exfoliator, 9 in the corrector, 12 in the cream). Ascorbyl palmitate and tocopherol are small amounts that protect the formulas; we claim no vitamin effect. Kojic acid can increase sun sensitivity, so daily sunscreen is essential.

Your routine

1–2× a week

  1. Once or twice weekly, massage the exfoliator onto damp skin, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.
  2. Daily on clean skin, apply the corrector serum directly onto areas with uneven tone.
  3. Smooth the face cream over the whole face.
  4. In the morning, always follow with broad-spectrum sunscreen.
