What the science says

Kojic acid — Research on kojic acid found that it slows tyrosinase, the enzyme that drives melanin (pigment) formation, which is why it is used in creams for a more even-looking tone. [1]

Jojoba seed oil — Research describes jojoba 'oil' as a liquid wax made of long-chain esters, widely used in moisturisers and sunscreens for skin feel and softness. [2]

Sodium PCA — Research explains that the outermost skin layer holds water thanks to its lipids and to the natural moisturising factor (NMF), a mix of small water-binding molecules; when hydration drops, skin turns dry and flaky. [3]

The cited research looks at kojic acid, jojoba and the skin's natural moisturising factor in general; it did not test our serum. Kojic acid is ingredient 9 of 30, after the water, oil and humectants and just ahead of the fragrance; we print no percentage. Ascorbyl palmitate and tocopherol come after the fragrance, in small amounts, to protect the plant oils, not as a source of vitamin C or E effects. Kojic acid can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so use sunscreen every day.
