What the science says

Organic aloe leaf juice base — In research on skin hydration, topical formulas containing aloe vera extract increased the water content of the outermost skin layer. [1]

Natural moisturising factor (sodium PCA) — Research on the skin's natural moisturising factor (NMF), a mix of small water-binding molecules, found that it helps the outermost skin layer hold water; sodium PCA is a water-binding molecule of this kind. [2]

The cited studies evaluated aloe vera creams and the skin's natural moisturising factor, not this cream. Here, organic aloe leaf juice replaces plain water as the first ingredient, with plant oils and butters; sodium PCA sits mid-list in a small amount. Ascorbyl palmitate and tocopherol protect the plant oils; we claim no vitamin effect from them.
