What the science says

Emollients (plant esters and alkanes) — Research on moisturisers found that emollients (oils and esters) keep the skin smooth, while humectants hydrate the outermost skin layer. Results depend on the whole formula. [1]

Glycerin — A humectant that attracts water into the surface layers of the skin, keeping it hydrated and comfortable during cleansing. [2]

The cited research looks at emollients and humectants in leave-on moisturisers, not in make-up removers. In our bi-phasic cleanser, light plant esters (isoamyl laurate, coco-caprylate/caprate) and coconut alkanes form the oil phase that lifts stubborn make-up, while organic aloe juice and glycerin sit in the water phase. Camomile, sea-buckthorn and raspberry extracts and hyaluronic acid appear in small amounts (positions 15-19). The formula is fragrance-free.
