What the science says
Glycerin — A well-studied humectant that pulls moisture into the outermost skin layer to help maintain suppleness and support the skin's moisture barrier. [1]
Sodium PCA — A key component of the skin's natural moisturising factor (NMF), which helps the surface skin layers bind and retain water. [2]
The cited studies examined humectants in controlled moisturising bases. In our formula, glycerin and sodium PCA sit in the top four ingredients. Lactobacillus ferment lysate is featured as a prebiotic conditioning agent; we do not cite studies for it because published human topical data are limited. Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate appear in small amounts near the end of the list.
