What the science says
Aloe vera — In research on topical creams, aloe vera extract helped increase the water content of the outermost skin layer compared with an unsupplemented base. [1]
Glycerin — A humectant that draws water into the outermost skin layer, helping keep skin soft, supple and moisturised. [2]
The cited aloe study evaluated creams with up to 0.5% freeze-dried extract, and glycerin studies evaluated controlled formulations; in our lotion, organic aloe juice is the primary base (first ingredient) and glycerin sits fourth. Emollient plant oils (sunflower, olive) provide suppleness. Botanical extracts of cloudberry and linseed, along with shea butter and cocoa butter, appear at modest levels (positions 10–16). Ascorbyl palmitate and tocopherol appear near the end as antioxidants protecting the oils — we do not claim vitamin C or E effects from them.
